Sagitta cantered happily over the crisp grass, it was so good to feel at home once again. This place was wonderful, new plants to learn about, new horses with colourful hair!
Wow I am going to like a lot! If only there were some horses around.
Flicking his ears happily he rushed forward, putting on a burst of speed. A large lake slowly drew closer. With a short distance left to go he took a giant leap, landing in the water with a huge splash. There was a small croak, Saga looked up with wide blue eyes. There was a frog...on his head. Snorting unhappily he shook it off so it landed with a plop in the water.
Ah that was better, nice and cool. Straightening up he looked around with his ears swiveling to catch any noises.
I hope no one saw that, he thought to himself.

_{Dutchess watched the newcomer splash into the water. Was that a frog... on his head?
She slowly walked over, not making a sound. She stood at the edge of the lake and watched him.
"I see you like the water." she said, laughing.
"And was that a frog on your head before? It's a good look for you." he said with a huge grin. This was the first time in a while that she had smiled. Not since Rex ended it between them. This brought a wave of sadness over her.

She gave a shake of her pink mane, letting it fall perfectly back down against her neck.
"My name is Dutchess by the way, Who might you be?"}

On hearing this new voice Sagitta jumped slightly, "Whoa, sorry I didn't see you-"
A pink mane! And pink eyes?! Amazing. "Wow you're beautiful!" he let the words slip out on accident. "Uhh...sorry. I mean, your hair, it's amazing! I've never seen anything like it except for on this stallion I met before, he had purprle hair, I didn't catch his name..." Slightly embarrassed he spoke quickly trying to make up for saying his thoughts aloud.

"You saw that huh? Yeah it was a frog..." He looked up at her sheepishly, "I'm Sagitta, usually it's just Saga though. Nice to meet you Dutchess."

"Yes, that would have been Rex" she mumbled. Get over it Dutchess!
"And welcome to the region Saga, It is nice to have someone else here. I don't have many friends here." she uttered. I have no friends at all.

She looked at his face, noticing the purple ring around his eye. "What's that?" she asked curiously. Then she noticed his stunning spotted coat. "Uh, um" she mumbled. Wow, he is perfect! Even more than Rex
"Would you like to go for a walk?" she stammered, embarrassed with herself.}

Noticing her discomfort at the mentioning of Rex, Sagitta decided to not mention him again.
He would just have to piece it together later. "Well, you seem very nice to me, I'd be honored to have you as my friend."

Noticing her looking over his markings he smiled, "Oh this, Indians put it on me, for alert vision, I lack that sometimes..." he chuckled not noticing her loss of words. "Sure, i'd love to see more of this land." Careful not to get her wet he scrambled up the bank onto the land. Backing away slightly he shook his coat so it dried off. "So, where to?"

_{It was like the whole world had stopped, like they were the only two people on the entire earth. Everything about Rex was forgotten, he was the past and it was time to live in the present day and to think about the future. She smiled at him and started walking towards the lake, looking behind to see if he was following her. Her mane and tail were blowing behind her as she approached the lake.
"Wow" was all she could utter as she admired the sunset that spread a loving, warming glow across the region. She was happy again, after so long, she was happy.
"This is my new favourite place" she whispered to Saga. She could only just make out his features now, but his silhouette was perfect, with his mane and tail blowing in the wind. Everything was perfect.

She stood there, letting the golden sunlight make it's way into her bloodstream.
"Welcome home Saga" she said.}

For once in his life, Sagitta wasn't looking at plants as he wandered along. Wow she was so pretty...
The sunset shone off her coat illuminating her mane and giving her such a beautiful glow. "I can see why you like it so much," Diverting his eyes away from the mare he gazed at the clouds. He stood close to her, his head held high and mighty. Time could freeze, he wouldn't care, everything was suddenly so perfect.

He sighed and out of the corner of his eye watched Dutchess.
'Welcome home Saga.'
He smiled, "Thanks, here's to a new beginning?"

_{She watched as Saga came and stood next to her, standing proud and tall. "Yes, here's to a new beginning" she said, the words rolling of her tongue like silk. She had a friend, someone that she could trust and they had only just met. But he felt like more than just a friend. Her happiness was then rudely interrupted by a chilling wind which shocked her back into reality.
"Wow, that's cold, we should probably get out of here before it gets any worse." she told him as she started to make her way back to her rock. This wind is too cold to be outside in, I need to find a cave where we will be sheltered.

Her eyes scoured the land looking for a cave that her and Sagitta could spend the night in. Her eyes drifted upon the cave that she had once shared with Rex. Ha, time to get rid of the memories. she said.
"Over here!" she called to Saga who was trailing behind her.
She trotted up to the entrance of the cave and looked in, making sure that there was no one in there. Everything was clear so she wandered in and lay down, inviting Saga to join her.

The dimly lit cave gave her a sense of security, and now that she had someone with her, it began to feel like home once more. She looked at the familiar surroundings, noticing that there were a large amount of cobwebs, showing that the cave had been unoccupied for some while. "Better do some housekeeping tomorrow" she chuckled. She shook a cobweb out of her forelock, sending little white fibres through the air.
"So Saga, tell me about yourself. How did you come across Myst?"}

The cold wind traveled down Sagas spine giving him the chills. When Dutchess mentioned getting out of the cold he nodded and followed her. "Goodbye warm weather..." he mumbled, he liked the feeling of the warm rays of the sun shinning down on his spotted coat. Where he came from it was almost always hot. How he would miss that.

Trotting up to the cave with Dutch he poked his head inside and looked around cautiously, taking in the dim light. With flared nostrils he took a deep breath, it was a funny smell, making his nose tickle. He watched as Dutchess lay down on the cave floor and slipped inside after her. "Nice find, this looks like a great place." He lay down facing her.

Sagitta chuckled, "Cobwebs aren't that bad, at least the spiders like it in here as much as we do."
When she asked him about his past he bit his lip. I think I can trust her...She may as well know.
"Well, I grew up with Indians, that's how I got my circle. Then I left, it was boring they wanted to turn me into a war horse and they sat on me. Wasn't that pleasurable. Though, the war training was a bit fun..." He paused to take a breath.
"Then I found a herd, there was this stallion, I think he felt...threatened by me. Anyway, he uh-accused me of murder...And then I was driven out. Word got around so I got away as fast as I could. Ended up here."

He smiled at her, "Nothing that interesting really, what about you?"
He had given Dutchess his full trust, hopefully he wouldn't think he was a murderer like other horses had accused him to be. If he lost her...well he didn't know what he'd do.

_{"I'm not much of a fan for cobwebs although I can stand them. And yea, I have been here before, a few times actually, that's how I know about it." she said, looking up at the roof of the cave. She listened to his story, a little shocked when her mentioned the part about murder.
"Wow, that must have been really rough." she said quietly.
"But I believe you when you say you didn't do it" she continued, giving him a half smile.
"Hmm, me, well, lets see, I grew up in a small part of Italy and when my parent's died, I ran away. I had a little brother, whom I miss terribly. He was treated so badly by everyone because he was different to the rest of us. I wish that he wasn't taken away from me. He was killed by humans. I don't know why." she whispered, letting a single tear slip from her eye. "And then I came here, Met Rex, fell in love, got betrayed, I was miserable, and then you came here. And that was when everything changed."

She immediately shut her mouth as the words escaped her lips. Dammit! "I am sorry, it kinda just slipped out." she muttered, embarrassed. I can trust him, can't I? she asked herself. Yes! I can. He is the only one that I have got. "Yep, silly me can't keep her mouth shut!" he giggled.
"So that's my life. Is there anything else that you want to know?" she asked him, her eyes finding his in the dim cave. She let her forelock sway ever so gently with the breeze that was coming in from the entrance of the cave.
Just don't get your hope up Dutchess, You don't want your heart to be broken again, because this time, you might not make it out of hell. her mind pleaded.}

So that's why she got uncomfortable when I mentioned Rex! That makes sense.
"Yeah it was a bit," He sighed and smiled at her, "You'd be the first."
"And that was when everything changed"
Sagas heart lifted at those words. "Meeting you has been the best thing that has happened to me in like a year." he admitted, "Humans irritate me, they do things without good reason. I'm very sorry to hear about your family. That must have been very hard for you." His voice was filled with comfort.

"So this Rex guy he betrayed you?" He frowned slightly, "If you don't mind me asking what did he do?"
Something about betraying such a beautiful mare didn't make sense to him, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

He stopped talking for a moment and silence take over for a minute, "Rex mentioned Lydes..." His ears flicked back slightly, confused. "What are they?"

_{[LONG POST IS LONG! I'm sorry!]

Dutchess was thankful for his kind words. "The hardest part was losing my brother. He was my world. not so much my parents. They were useless, always fighting and never looking after us. I should have taken better care of him, not let him out of my sight, to get taken away by those nasty humans!" she whispered. She became happier when Saga admitted that meeting her was the best thing that had happened to her in a year. it made her feel loved again.

"No, I don't mind." she said, now referring to his question about Rex.
"When I came here, I met Rex, he 'WAS' nice and we kinda feel in love. One day another mare came along. He began cheating on me. I found out and he promised that it would stop and a believed him. It was a very stupid thing to do. I really regret it. He cheated on me again with the same mare. Now they are together, and having a foal." she confessed, although she did not feel the big cloud of misery over her anymore. I have moved on! She thought, proud of herself, and proud of her heart for still beating.

And then he mentioned the lydes. "Urgh, Lydes" she muttered. The thought of those creatures made her sick.
"Lyde, oh my god, you never want to get near one! They are the most horrid creatures I have ever seen. They are reptillian like horses that eat flesh. I have been in a lyde attack, and they are no walk in the park." She then motioned to the scar on her head that she had acquired from the lyde attack back in region 1 when she first got here.
"I almost lost my friends that day. I ran as fast as I could to get out of there, I came to Region 2. The attacks are less frequent here, but they still happen. Be really careful. Lydes are attracted by blood. Oh and they stink terribly." she ended.

She shifted closer to Sagitta as a cold gust of wind came through the cave entrance. She found herself rather close to his face. Well this is a little awkward. "Uhm" she mumbled, not moving back because she didn't want to get cold, but wanting to move back because she didn't want to make him feel awkward and creeped out.
"Uhh, ermm." She had no clue what to do so she just sat there awkwardly tense, hoping that he would do something, or say something.}

Saga listened patiently while she told her story, "That must have hurt," He whispered when she told him what Rex had done. he was glad when she brought up the lydes, it made him a bit uncomfortable to say anything about Rex and his new mare. He didn't know them, he couldn't, wouldn't judge. Though what he did to her wasn't nice. It was far from nice.

Lydes aye? So that's what that disgusting smell was in the forest! Ha that makes sense. Those things sound creepy!
"A lyde attack? Flesh eating?" The words spilled out of his mouth. These creatures were sick. His eyes flicked to her scar, "I didn't know you had a scar, didn't even notice it." He continued to listen to her, "Well have they tried to stop the attacks? And I'll be careful, I would never let those creatures touch a hair on me. Or you again."

The cold wind swept into their cave, it was so cold, chilling his bones. Inching deeper into the cave, but looking outside he suddenly felt something brush against him lightly. Turning his head back to face Dutch their faces were suddenly so close.
Oh god, what do I do, think brain think!
His eyes were drawn to hers, wow such a pretty colour.
He smiled, "That wind is freezing. It's getting pretty late, we should get some shut eye."
He moved in closer to her slightly then rested his head on the cave floor. He lay watching her for a while until he fell asleep.

_{"Well, I do, but it just kinda blends in with my other markings." She recalled back to the day of the attack and shuddered, horrid memories filling her mind.
"They are trying to stop them, to steer the lydes in another direction with the Royal Castra, but they are still trying to work it out so..." She ended there, not know what to say when he mentioned that he would protect her from the lydes.
"Thank you" she whispered.
"Lydes are extremely powerful, so if they find you, they've got you. Pretty much how it works."

'Maybe we should get some shut eye' he stated.
"You're right, we should, it's getting really late" she replied, letting him move ever so closer to her. She lay her head down next to his shoulder. The beauty of sleep inviting her in for the night. She closed her eyes, letting its welcoming darkness wash away the day, bringing her to the start of a brand new day. I wish, that this would be forever, I fall asleep at his side, wake at his side, and always be at his side, no matter what.

The night brought chilling winds through the entrance of the cave, that caused Dutchess to shiver. Throughout the night she inched closer and closer to Sagitta for warmth. She now longed for the daylight to come bursting through into the cave when she slept, to warm her body back up, and to bring to life everything that she dreamed of.}

The Royal Castra? Some sort of army...Hey that'd be fun! Well not fun fighting those things. Maybe I should join...
He pushed the thought to the back of his mind, he'd worry about the lydes later.

As the night wore on he was unaware of Dutchess moving closer to his side. A cold wind made him slowly blink open his eyes and yawn, he looked at the sleeping shape of Dutch next to him and smiled softly. Her warmth made him comfortable. As he closed his eyes and waited for sleep to take over him once more thoughts rushed through his busy head.
Perhaps this will be forever? I don't want to do anything without her. He breathed in her sweet scent, the last thing on his mind as he fell back into sleep was her.

As the first rays of sunlight shone through the cave Saga felt his eyes flutter open, and a long yawn helped chase the sleep away. He lay still not wanting to wake up the sleeping Dutchess. He'd just let her wake up in her own time. He watched her sleeping, the gentle rise of her sides from breathing. He smiled to himself, she was perfect.

_{"Saga" she called, trotting over to him.
"Yes Dutchess?" he asked her, grinning.
"I love you and I have something to tell you" she whispered to him, inching closer to him.
"What is it sweetie?" he whispered back.
"We are going to be parents, you and I are going to have a family!" she whispered in his ear excitedly. She took a step back and announced to the world that she was going to be a mother.

Dutchess's eyes fluttered as the sunlight beamed into the cave. She let her eyes open and noticed how close she was to Saga. "Good morning" she said, yawning and stretching out her legs. She lay there, letting the suns rays warm her body, filling her with happiness, not that she needed anymore.
"How did you sleep?" she asked him, getting to her feet.
"I had an amazing dream" she whispered.
"And you were in it." She was grinning now, her life seemed whole again. She shook her body, ridding her coat of any dust.
"What would you like to do today Saga?" Maybe he will want to go for a swim, because I sure do. It's really hot today. Then maybe, I could take him on a tour of the rest of the region, and maybe I could tell him that I love him.
She was feeling confident today, better than she had felt in so long and it made her want to live her life to the fullest.}

Sagitta was about to nod off again just as Dutchess woke up. "Morning," He yawned, blinking away the sleep that lingered in his system. Quickly he got up so she had room to stand as well, "I was about to ask you the same thing," He laughed, "It was good. I needed a good sleep."

"You had a dream? With me in it?" He grinned, and tossed his forelock from his eyes.
Well today was already turning out interesting!
He wandered to the entrance of the cave, looking out, the sun sending down rays of warm light.
"I have an idea," He grinned at her with a playful spark in his eye. Taking a step closer to her he extended his neck and nudged her neck, "Tag! You're it!"

He sprang off at a gallop towards the lake, his black tail flying out behind him like a banner. He looked behind to make sure Dutch was following, then slowed down slightly to let her catch up.
It didn't get any better than this.

_{"I did actually, I might tell you about it later" she said grinning. She watched him closely as he stood at the entrance of the cave when he approached her with a smile. 'Tag you're it' he laughed nudging her neck. She galloped off after him as fast as she could, laughing. He slowed down for her but she galloped straight past him, nudging him as she went past. "Now You're it" she yelled out to him, still laughing. She galloped straight towards the lake. She jumped straight in, sending a massive splash into the air, soaking Sagitta as he approached the lake. Dutchess lost it, laughing so much she couldn't breath.

She regained herself, grinning with satisfaction and looking at the saturated Saga. "It's a nice look for you Saga" she giggled, inviting him into the cooling water. She put her head under the water, letting the water soak her pink mane. She lifted it back up and shook, sending large amounts of water through the air, flying into Saga.
"Haha" Could things get any better? I sure hope so!}

He watched as she raced ahead and laughed, "Hey! Wait up!"
His legs flew out under neath him trying to regain the ground he'd lost. His heart pounded as he galloped his powerful haunches working to push him forwards, his long stride carrying him across the ground with ease.

At the edge of the pool he came to a sudden halt, just as a huge splash hit him, soaking him from the tip of his ears all the way to his hooves. Immediately he looked up onto his head. Good! For once there isn't a frog there!
He flattened his ears side ways, trying to hold a straight face, "That's so not funny." The corners of his lips curved upwards in a smile. Then he burst out laughing, "I lie, it's hilarious." He sprang into the pool after her.

Pawing the water with his hoof he sent a splash towards Dutchess. "Hah, revenge!" He grinned and continued to splash around in the water like a colt. After a few minutes he stopped and let the water settle.

"Sorry, hope I didn't get water in your eyes," he chucked with a large grin on his face.

_{All she could do was smile, she was so happy around him. "No you didn't" she said laughing. She walked towards him, sloshing through the water that was now up to her stomach. He moved close to his face. She closed her eyes and kissed him on the cheek. Her heart was beating so fast she was sure it was going to stop because it couldn't handle it. She pulled back and opened her eyes. She was scared that he was going to run away. He was just standing there, expressionless. "Uh, I'm so sorry Saga." She was so embarrassed. He obviously didn't feel the same about her as she felt about him. She dropped her head, ashamed of herself. What are you doing with yourself Dutchess? He obviously just wanted to be your friend, now look what you have done.

She shifted her legs in the water, feeling awkward now. "Sorry Saga" she mumbled. She wanted to hide her face forever, to hide in a cave and never come out.}

Sagitta stood in the water, the feel of her lips brushing against his cheek, made him shiver.
Uh! Idiot don't just stand there!
He smiled softly and moved closer to her, "Nothing to be sorry about." he looked right into her eyes, "It's just... you missed my lips." Taking a small step towards her, he gave her a kiss, a proper one on her lips.

He straightened up, "Now, what are we gonna do now?" He grinned and gave her a small kiss on the cheek before climbing onto the bank. He shook the water from his coat and smiled down at her.

_{Her heart stopped. She felt like her and Sagitta were the only two people on the earth. She lifted her head. She smiled at him. "I, uh, I missed your li...?" Before she could finish Saga was kissing her, properly, on the lips. She felt so happy, like her heart was going to explode with love. He kissed her on the cheek again and then climbed out of the water. Dutchess followed him, as if she was in a trance.
"I don't know. What were you thinking?" she asked him smiling, giving his a 'proper' kiss to make up for the one that she had gotten wrong.
"I love you" she whispered in his ear, brushing her lips against his cheek as she brought her head back.
I never, ever want this moment to end, ever.

Her heart was pounding as she waited for a response to her question. She had never been this excited before in her life, not even with Rex. I can not believe that I ever liked that buffoon, that I was so upset when he left me. I have to perfect guy right here in front of me.}

Dutchs warm lips on his made Sagas heart stop beating, at least that's what it felt like. He stood with his face right up next to hers for a moment, breathing in her scent. It was so sweet, like flowers in the spring. "I love you too," he whispered back.

Drawing himself away from her he looked around, "Want to go for a walk? It's a beautiful day and I still haven't seen much of the area." He grinned and flicked his ears, "Should be a good sunset."
Beginning to trot around the lake he flicked his head back, "Coming?"

_{She trotted after him, leaving the lake behind. She trotted up beside him, her tail swishing around as she moved. "I know the perfect place we could go. We could spend the day there and we'll get a amazing view of the sunset." she said with a permanent grin on her face. She motioned for Saga to follow her. She headed towards the mountain, where she had gone with Layka when then they were friends.
"It's up here" she giggled, the track steep and rocky.
"Trust me, the trip up is worth it" she said, beginning up the track.

The trek up was exhausting but when she reached the top she indulged in some nice cool water. She turned around, splashing Saga with the cool water. She loved it up here on the mountain, the leaves scattered over the ground. Autumn. She loved autumn time, and spring time the most. She lay down in a nice, shady spot inviting Saga to join her.
"I love it up here Saga, it's always so beautiful. And it's pretty private, although there are a couple of horses that know about it." she said in a sweet voice. There was a warm breeze. She was going to miss this when winter came around. She would be trapped in a cave, trying to keep warm. Hopefully I will still have Saga with me then. I don't want to be alone during winter, and I love him too much to let go.

She looked at Saga, her eyes glistening. "I love you Saga" she said, nuzzling him and then resting her head on his shoulder. This moment is perfect.}

Saga threw back his head happily, "Lead the way!"
Dropping back slightly he trotted along beside her, the sun gleaming off their coats. Bright blue eyes scanned the mountains, he could only imagine what secrets they had hidden in the valleys in between the great towering masses of land.
As Dutchess voided off the level terrain and up a rocky path. Bunching his muscles he began to climb the mountain with powerful strides.

As they reached the top the appaloosa was almost out of breath, he stopped for a minute and looked around, only to be splashed with water. His thoughts suddenly went flooding back to Dutchess, "Hey!" He laughed and splashed her back, then lowered his head to have a quick drink. Joining her under the shade of the tree, he lay down beside her. "I can see why you do, this place is almost as beautiful as yourself," He smiled and nuzzled her happily.

"I love you too Dutch," he gave her a light kiss on the forehead and smiled happily.
